About Paula Kline, PhD
I see myself as a connections specialist. Specifically, it is my opinion that psychological distress is most often a manifestation of a breakdown in feelings of connection – to ourselves, to other people, or to our ability to make sense of the world around us.
I see my job as helping clients to identify their unique sources of disconnection, empowering them to choose a path toward greater growth and fulfillment. I use the Daring Way as a resource for clients to develop a better understanding of the roles of shame, vulnerability, and story-building in their journey.
I identify as a generalist. That means I work with folks with a wide array of concerns and diagnoses. It also means I use a variety of clinical modalities (i.e., individual, group, couples, etc.) I am known for being especially effective helping folks uproot narratives around rejection, trauma, and chronic interpersonal and emotional pain. I also am known for digging deep and exploring the big existential questions (e.g., why am I even here?) Presently, the bulk of this work occurs at our private practice in Raleigh, where I work with my very best friend and business partner, Dr. Jackie Camp.
