About Patricia Burkert, LCSW

People need people. Every day in her work, Ms. Burkert sees this in her work with clients. Since life comes with challenges, she believes that none of us are meant to be alone in the world, and none of us are meant to tackle every difficulty alone. In a society that prides itself on self-sufficiency, Patricia knows that it takes great courage to ask for what you need, particularly if what you need is support from others. She offers clients a non-judgmental ear, a compassionate attitude and, quite often, a different perspective. The people she works with come to her for a variety of reasons, whether they want to vent, want to work towards a goal that feels insurmountable, or they need support, clarity and guidance to untangle past issues. Most often, Patricia works from a strengths-based perspective, utilizing skills from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Training (DBT) and Solution Focused therapies, along with other modalities as appropriate.  Recognizing that some may see therapy as intimidating, Ms. Burkert strives to create an environment where clients feel fully comfortable and where humor, joy and laughter are welcome alongside more challenging feelings. She believes that small successes are foundational to greater achievements. Change requires action—however big or small—and she supports her clients every step of the way.
