Marlena Parson graduated with her dual Post-Masters as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist from the University of Maryland in Baltimore, MD. She is a registered nurse and psychiatric NP in North Carolina. She spent seven years as a clinical nurse leader for mental health, before switching over to working as a psychiatric nurse practitioner for Psychiatric Acute Recovery Center in Durham. There she managed medication, evaluated patients, and tailored regimens to the meet the specific needs of each Veteran to walk through her doors. Marlena currently treats ages 17 and up at our Wake Forest location and through our telehealth platform, where she specializes in trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, and ADHD.
Why did you choose mental health as a career path?
“I started my career in public service working for the United States Congress, and quickly realized that true public service is in health care. I find my work fulfilling and inspiring. My goal is to empower each client to get the most they can out of every day.”
