About Kade Collins, LCSWA

Kade Collins came out as transgender as a young teenager in the late 1990s. The mental health services that Kade was able to access at that time were simultaneously lifesaving and damaging, due to their enforcement of pathologizing practices and concepts regarding transgender and queer identities and experiences. Since this time, Kade has wanted to serve the community by providing mental health services through a lens of culturally competent and trauma-informed care. Kade is most passionate about providing a safe space where patients can bring all of themselves into the room and feel met with respect and dignity. Kade believes that therapy can be whatever the patient wants it to be, from simply being part of their self -care routine, a space to process their thoughts and feelings regarding current life stressors, or to safely work on past trauma. Kade firmly believes in a holistic, trauma-informed, and social justice-oriented approach to care. Kade provides a therapeutic approach, grounded in intersectionality, compassion, and harm reduction. Kade believes that patients are the experts in their own lives, experiences, and therapeutic goals and that therapy is a collaborative process between the clinician and the patient. What may differentiate Kade as a clinician is the lived experience as a transgender youth and now adult, Kade’s extensive experience working with both trans youth and adults as well as LGBTQ+ populations.
