About Joseph Ritchey, LISW-CP

Joseph Ritchey earned his Bachelor of Science from Penn State in Public Policy, his Master of Public Health, and his Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California. Joseph became a licensed clinical social worker in 2004 and earned his certificate in Gerontology. He specializes in substance use disorders and is a certified addiction counselor.  Joseph also served on the SCAADAC board for certified addiction counselors. Joseph chose the mental health field because he found that when he talked to people about their problems, they responded favorably. He has worked with people with addiction problems and co-occurring disorders since the 1980s and enjoys working with people and seeing them get relief from the problems they are experiencing. He is most passionate about helping people find the peace that seems to escape them. His overall care philosophy and objective for patients can be described as: he meets the patient where they are and avoids having his own agenda for them. He wants the patient to dictate what they want, and he asks the patient if they would like assistance with ideas in achieving those desired goals.
