About John "Preston" Cole, LCSW
Preston believes that the process of therapy works best when a patient is motivated for change and can engage in honest self-reflection. He has learned over the past seven years as a lead therapist that one of the most important factors that predict success in therapy is the alignment and therapeutic rapport between the therapist and the patient. Preston may give direction and advice if solicited, but he believes the patient possesses the internal strength and direction to improve life satisfaction and mental well-being. He is from Kings Mountain, NC, and found early experience in public service with volunteering at the Special Olympics and completing a service project for the Eagle Scout rank in Boy Scouts. Preston uses a Strengths-Based approach which seeks to amplify the strengths and areas of resilience within the patient to tackle other challenges they are facing, as well as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Crisis De-Escalation, and Motivational Interviewing.
