Referring Providers

About John "Preston" Cole, LCSW

Preston believes that the process of therapy works best when a client is motivated for change and can engage in honest self-reflection. He has learned over the past seven years as a lead therapist that one of the most important factors that predicts success in therapy is the alignment and therapeutic rapport between the therapist and the client. Preston may give direction and advice, if solicited, but he believes the client possesses the internal strength and direction to improve life satisfaction and mental well-being. He is from Kings Mountain, NC, and found early experience in public service with volunteering at the Special Olympics and completing a service project for the Eagle Scout rank in Boy Scouts. Preston uses a Strengths-Based approach which seeks to amplify the strengths and areas of resilience within the client to tackle other challenges they are facing, as well as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Crisis De-Escalation and Motivational Interviewing.
