Referring Providers

About Jacqueline Camp, PhD, HSP-P

I am a licensed psychologist, and I work in an affiliate clinic in Raleigh with Dr. Paula Kline. I work with adults struggling with many different issues, including interpersonal and relationship problems; sexual, physical, and emotional abuse and trauma; eating and body image issues; grief and loss; depression; and anxiety. I am passionate about group work, and co-lead emotion regulation (based on DBT) and Daring Way groups.

I believe that every person is wired to be connected (understood, seen, known, valued, loved, and prized) in close relationships. I believe that at the core of emotional and psychological problems is a problem in connection or relationships – both past and present, with others and within ourselves. This means that my most important job as a therapist is to build a healing relationship, which provides a foundation for you to rewrite how you tell your story. Telling your story is emotionally painful and requires courage, vulnerability, compassion, and empathy. I rely on a variety of strategies to help people make the changes they want to make; most commonly these include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills (e.g., mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills), cognitive behavioral techniques, and anxiety reduction strategies.

“Dr. Camp helped me develop the tools to significantly improve my well-being. Her approach was not always what I wanted, but definitely always what I needed. She cared about my progress more than I did until I learned that it was important for me to care also. Would definitely recommend her, especially for those struggling with trauma, eating disorders, anxiety, etc. Very intelligent!”

“Dr. Camp is insanely smart and can always help with the issues I am having. She’s honestly the best therapist I have ever had by far. She is compassionate and empathetic and will call out any false beliefs you may have. She is worth the $$$$. I have recommended her to several friends already.”
