About Jacqueline Camp, PhD, HSP-P
I am a licensed psychologist, and I work in an affiliate clinic in Raleigh with Dr. Paula Kline. I work with adults struggling with many different issues, including interpersonal and relationship problems; sexual, physical, and emotional abuse and trauma; eating and body image issues; grief and loss; depression; and anxiety. I am passionate about group work, and co-lead emotion regulation (based on DBT) and Daring Way groups.
I believe that every person is wired to be connected (understood, seen, known, valued, loved, and prized) in close relationships. I believe that at the core of emotional and psychological problems is a problem in connection or relationships – both past and present, with others and within ourselves. This means that my most important job as a therapist is to build a healing relationship, which provides a foundation for you to rewrite how you tell your story. Telling your story is emotionally painful and requires courage, vulnerability, compassion, and empathy. I rely on a variety of strategies to help people make the changes they want to make; most commonly these include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills (e.g., mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills), cognitive behavioral techniques, and anxiety reduction strategies.
