About Elle Townsend, PhD, MSW Intern
Elle’s mission in life is to create a world that embraces the full range of emotional experience. She sees therapy as a practice of holding space for people to show up as their whole, messy, complex, beautiful selves. Working from a feminist and anti-oppressive lens, she draws heavily on mindfulness and somatic approaches. Some of the areas she works on with clients include grief, trauma, depression, substance use, life transitions, systemic oppression, and tuning into emotional experience and bodily wisdom. Elle is an intern currently earning her Master of Social Work at UNC-Chapel Hill. Before coming to MindPath, she worked as a case manager at the LGBTQ Center of Durham and taught undergraduate philosophy courses. She has a Ph.D. in philosophy and has completed yoga teacher training with Michelle Johnson.
