The Drive-thru event will take place Sunday, October 11

DURHAM, N.C. – October 2, 2020 – MindPath Care Centers, North Carolina’s largest outpatient mental and behavioral healthcare provider, is pleased to announce that it is a sponsor of the Foundation of Hope  and its 32nd Annual Thad and Alice Eure Walk for Hope Drive-Thru event taking place on Sunday, October 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Angus Barn restaurant in Raleigh, N.C.  Due to COVID-19 the Walk for Hope event will be a Drive-Thru event, where participants can enjoy local music, a delicious lunch to go, and the opportunity to win prizes all from the safety of their cars.  Funds  raised will go directly to mental illness research at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill Department of Psychiatry.

Raleigh restauranteurs Thad Jr. and Alice Eure established the Foundation of Hope in 1984 after their son, Thad was diagnosed with chronic bipolar disorder.  The first Walk for Hope event took place in 1989, after Thad’s passing and raised $30,000 for the Foundation.  Since its inception, the Foundation has raised over $6.6 million for 157 research grants, which have leveraged an additional $160 million in funding from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and other organizations.  Today, the Walk for Hope has become a Triangle family tradition, and one of the nation’s largest and oldest walk fundraisers benefiting mental illness research.  For more information, visit www.walkforhope.com.

“Breaking down barriers and reducing the stigma of mental and behavioral health are among our top priorities and we are proud to support the Foundation of Hope in bringing this important event to the Triangle community,” said Jeff Williams, CEO of MindPath Care Centers.

Shelley Eure Belk, Executive Director, The Foundation of Hope, said, “We are so very grateful to our sponsors like MindPath Care Centers who continue to support mental health research and treat those suffering from mental illness in North Carolina’s communities. Although we can’t walk together in person due to COVID-19, we are excited to offer the Drive-Thru event or Virtual option as a safe, fun experience for our supporters, sponsors, and their families.”
